Pink Boots Society

Another exciting moment and milestone in my craft beer journey happened yesterday. I was officially accepted into the Pink Boots Society (PBS)! Hey, I'm not just sitting around drinking beer, as some skeptics have pointed out. I have Dreams. Plans. Goals. Methods to my beer maddness.

Who Are the Pink Boots Society®? (taken directly from the website)

We are the female movers and shakers in the beer industry. We get the beer brewed and fermented with the highest possible quality. We also own breweries, package the beer, design beers, serve beers, write about beer, and cover just about any aspect of beer, and we are all women. Most importantly, we teach each other what we know through our own seminar programs, and we help each other advance our beer careers by raising money for educational scholarships.

Mission

The Pink Boots Society was created to assist, inspire and encourage women beer industry professionals to advance their careers through education.

I have spoken with many females brewers throughout the US, and everyone of them said, "you need to be a member of Pink Boots Society. It is a network of intelligent and driven women in the beer industry who support and mentor each other." Perfect! PBS had a requirement you need to be earning income within the beer industry in order to become a member..or at least originally. I just noticed on their website they have changed that to "students currently enrolled in a beer industry focused program" and brewery in planning. So looks like I've got it covered from all three angles. I'm out spreading the hop love for Glacier Hops Ranch, while also growing marketshare for Great Beer Co., home of Hollywood Blonde™, enrolled in the UC San Diego Brewing Program, and paving grounds to open up my microbrewery. I can now officially attend my first meeting and dive in!

Stay tuned for more of my personal Pink Boots stories as I get involved in both the LA and Arizona Chapter. The Arizona Chapter literally just started a few months ago. The entire organization is relatively new...only It is a 99.99% volunteer run global organization. There are less than 2,500 women, so everyone's participation can make an impact.

Read how founder, Teri Fahrendorf got her inspiration to start PBS while traveling and brewing beer around the world.

Have a safe and fun 4th of July!

Cheers!

To Nick Rigler...hey I'll see you Sunday...welcome home! Here's one (besides the obvious Sam Adams Boston Lager) It's called Founder's Day All Day IPA. An all-day IPA...clean and citrusy. Comes in a 15 pack, too. Yum!
